Official record + timer beep → verified overlay
Add Shot Times and Scores to Match Video
Use Shooting Cut to make a stage video easier to understand by displaying verified shot times, splits, shot count, and score data from a PractiScore result that contains official per-shot timer records. Shooting Cut aligns that record to the footage by the timer beep; it does not infer bullet-hit locations.
Updated: 2026-08-02
The workflow starts with imported official data; the app does not invent missing fields. Select the corresponding stage video, verify the beep alignment, inspect the timing and score information, and preview the complete composition before export.
The PractiScore result must contain the official record
PractiScore results do not all expose the same fields. This workflow applies only when the selected result includes the official timer and per-shot record needed to anchor the data to footage.
When those fields are present, Shooting Cut can use the timer beep as the shared reference between the official record and the video timeline. Supported result import, the available timing and score overlay, Reframe and Track, and standard export are free in Auto Trim, but the editor still needs to verify that the selected competitor, stage, and video belong together.
Source boundary: ESS, HDP, Shoot'n Score It, and IDPA can provide score data for import, but they do not supply this PractiScore-style official per-shot timer anchor.
Import, align, review, preview, and export
- Import the official record. Choose a PractiScore result that actually contains the official timer and per-shot fields needed for the workflow.
- Select the matching video. Associate the imported competitor and stage record with the corresponding footage in your archive.
- Align and verify the timer beep. Use the timer beep in the audio as the anchor, then preview and correct the alignment when needed.
- Review timing and score fields. Confirm the official times, splits, shot count, and score data available in the imported record.
- Preview the subtitle or overlay. Check the selected fields against the footage and verify readability in the final frame.
- Export the reviewed edit. Export only after the alignment, data fields, timing, framing, and text readability have been checked.
If the timer beep is weak or masked by recording conditions, use the detection troubleshooting guide and correct the anchor before treating the subtitle timing as final.
Use only the timing and score data present in the record
| Field | Use in the video | Review before export |
|---|---|---|
| Official shot times | Timed subtitle or overlay data anchored to the beep | Confirm the first anchor and the progression through the run |
| Splits | Intervals supplied by the official record | Check that the displayed sequence matches the selected stage |
| Shot count | Count supplied with the available record | Verify it belongs to the imported competitor and stage |
| Score data | Score-aware context in the selected subtitle or overlay | Confirm the result fields before rendering them into the edit |

Preview score text inside a vertical composition
A portrait or square crop leaves a different amount of space for performance data than a landscape frame. Choose an available Reframe/Track ratio, review the shooter’s framing, and preview the actual subtitle or overlay before export.
Use the text and composition controls exposed by the selected workflow; this workflow does not expose a separate vertical-only score layout. The Reframe and Track guide explains supported shapes and resolution ceilings.
Frequently asked questions
Does every PractiScore result include official per-shot records?
No. This workflow is available only when the imported PractiScore result actually contains official timer and per-shot fields.
Does Shooting Cut show where bullets hit the target?
No. Shooting Cut can display available imported score and official timing data and can analyze timer and shot audio. It does not locate or place bullet hits on a target image.
Which imported fields can Shooting Cut use in the video?
When present in the official record, Shooting Cut can use official times, splits, shot count, and score data in subtitles or overlays.
Do I need to verify the timer-beep alignment?
Yes. Use the timer beep as the anchor, then preview the footage and correct the alignment when needed before export.
Can ESS, HDP, Shoot'n Score It, or IDPA results use the same official per-shot anchor?
No. Those sources provide score import, but they do not supply the PractiScore-style official per-shot timer record used by this workflow. Supported result import, the available timing and score overlay, and standard export are free in Auto Trim.
